When conditions turn more powerful, and your favourite shortboard is starting to skip, not quite holding on bottom turns, isn't quite getting you over the ledge, it's time to step up. With a slightly narrower tail, slightly increased rocker, and low boxy rails for speed, the step up will be there for smooth responsive turning and increased holding at high speed without that bulky big board feeling. Recommended tail designs are a round tail, tight swallow tail, tight squash or as a rounded pintail. Ride this board 2’ to 6’ longer than your regular length.
